Alcatraz - The Rock - RP Correctional Facility (SLRP)

The Rock is a women's prison in Second Life dedicated to offer roleplay in the environmentand atmosphere of the most famous of all prisons of the United States:Alcatraz. They are not a combat sim, but a sim for prison roleplay. I had the chance to meet Perle Gassne (Govenor of Alcatraz) and she gave me some information about what the sim was about,

The RL Alcatraz Island is an island located in the San Francisco Bay, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) offshore from San Francisco, California, United States. Often referred to as "The Rock", the small island was developed with facilities for a lighthouse, a military fortification, a military prison, and a Federal Bureau of Prisons federal prison until 1963. Beginning in November 1969, the island was occupied for more than 19 months by a group of American Indians from San Francisco, who were part of a wave of Indian activism across the nation, with public protests through the 1970s. Later, in 1972, Alcatraz became a national recreation area and received designation as a National Historic Landmark in 1986.
Today, the island's facilities are operated by the National Park Service as part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area; it is open to tours. Visitors can reach the island by ferry ride from Pier 33, near Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. In 2008 the nation's first hybrid propulsion ferry started serving the island. Alcatraz has been featured in many movies, TV shows, cartoons, books, comics, and games.

New Babbage - A Steampunk City in Second Life

Some photos taken on a recent trip to the New Babbage Sim. Brunel Hall Hotel, the largest Hotel of its kind in New Babbage. New Babbage is a sooty northern industrial City-Nation of the steampunk imagination, loosely based on the era of 1830 to 1890. Tourists are a common sight and are welcomed. The City has a rich history dating back to an earlier clockwork technological period, hinted at but largely unexplored.
What will you uncover?
The City is home to an active roleplay community. RP is 100% optional here, but be aware that your roleplay actions may not be entirely ignorable by the people who have made this city their home. The stories that are told in our streets have an inevitable impact on the character of the city, which is first and foremost a steampunk city. Characters based in magic and fantasy are strongly advised to consult with the mayor before settling in.
